How to Use the APB112 for Toyota All Keys Lost Situations

When dealing with a Toyota vehicle where all keys are lost, you might wonder if disassembly is required. The answer is: not necessarily. Using the APB112 to generate a simulation key can simplify the process. Below is a step-by-step guide to help you through this.

Step 1: Select Manual Mode

Begin by selecting the manual mode on your device.

Step 2: Back Up EEPROM Data

Before proceeding, make sure to back up the EEPROM data.

Step 3: Generate the Simulation Key

After backing up the data, proceed to generate the simulation key. When the blue light on the APB112 lights up, the key is ready for use.

Step 4: Start the Vehicle with the Simulation Key

Now, try to start the vehicle using the APB112. If successful, you can proceed with adding new keys.

Understanding the Role of the Simulation Key

The simulation key acts like a real key, converting a situation where all keys are lost into one where you can simply add new keys. Here's how Toyota determines if all keys lost situations are supported:

  • If you can back up the data, it's supported.
  • If you can generate a simulation key, the instrument panel can be illuminated.
  • If the instrument panel lights up, the vehicle can be started, and new keys can be added.

Important Notes:

1. If OBD backup fails and you are prompted to disassemble and read the smart box, you can do so. The eight-pin chip model is usually 93C86.
2. If the chip is 93C66 (e.g., for Crown models after 2017), disassembly and generation may not work, and the smart box may need to be replaced (not tested yet).
3. For chips with codes like 3330/0410/0440/0010 (after 2017), F43 port, 93C66 with no eight-pin chip, etc., the procedure is not supported.
